A World United By Science
On May 20, 1875, in Paris, 17 nations changed the world by singing the Metre Convention. This incredible document set the framework which unified our world under one coherent system of measurement. Universal measurement consistency is the fundamental ingredient for many societal pillars including science, commerce. To commemorate this historic step for mankind, over 80 countries across the world unite in celebration of World Metrology Day.
Each year the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML), and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), emphasize one of the important roles Metrology plays in our world. This year’s theme revolves around measurement’s role in health and wellbeing. From lab testing to medication dosing, measurements play a critical role in modern medicine.
